Mpox Society is part of the broader initiative supported by Flanders, State of the Art.

Within this same initiative, the State-of-the-art Mpox Symposium was first organized in Kinshasa in December 2025, creating an opportunity for researchers, policymakers, and global health stakeholders to meet in person and discuss ongoing mpox research and response efforts. During this symposium, the concept of Mpox Society was presented to the international research community.

A second edition of the symposium will take place in Uganda in November 2026, continuing to foster collaboration and dialogue across the global mpox community.
